What is RoadSense?
RoadSense is a targeted road safety strategy which has been developed to help reduce the number of children killed and injured on New Zealand roads. It’s a joint partnership between Land Transport New Zealand and the New Zealand Police.
RoadSense is targeted at primary and intermediate schools in areas with high rates of child road deaths and injuries. At present there are 158 schools involved in the strategy, and this will increase to more than 200 from the beginning of 2008.
The new strategy replaces the previous RoadSense education programme, which has been introduced at more than 1500 schools since it was established in 2001.
