Feet First Walk to School Week

Planning is already underway for the 2008 Feet First Walk to School Week.

This year’s event, held in March, saw more than 60,000 children from 170 schools take part in a week of activities designed to encourage more children to walk to school.

The winner of the Feet First Walk to School first prize – a Sanitarium breakfast with triathlete Hamish Carter – was Brightwater School, near Nelson. All 250 children at the school walked to school every day during the week.

Those taking part came from schools in Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington and Nelson. It’s hoped that next year’s event will be held nationwide.
