A RoadSense school culture
For road safety education to be effective it needs to be reinforced by the entire school community. That includes staff and parents.
What children learn in the classroom needs to be reinforced by what they see adults doing outside the school gate, and what happens when they are traveling by car or bus to school events.
It’s not hard to establish a road safety culture. It’s about making sure that what you say and do as a school community is consistent with what you teach.
You can start from the moment that children first enrol. Talk to new parents about the importance of road safety; include the Road Safe for School brochure in your enrolment pack, and reinforce road-safety messages through regular updates in the school newsletter.
